Windows 8.1 Update发布时微软表示，所有Windows 8.1用户都需要在5月补丁日之前安装这个系统更新，否则将无法收到微软今后发布的更新/补丁。5月12日，微软延长了这一期限，放宽至6月10日，也就是今天。也就是说，如果今天你的Windows 8.1还没有升级到Windows 8.1 Update，那么将无法安装6月乃至今后的所有安全补丁。
如果你已经开启了Windows Update自动更新，那么系统已经自动为你安装了Windows 8.1 Update。如果你没有开启自动更新，而且仍然未安装Windows 8.1 Update，那么现在就赶紧去Windows Update中查看并下载Windows 8.1 Update这一个更新吧。否则，从6月10日开始，微软发布的任何系统更新你都看不到，直到安装Windows 8.1 Update。

没有升级到Windows 8.1的Windows 8用户则不受上述影响。不过还是建议Windows 8用户免费升级到Windows 8.1 Update，因为微软在2016年1月12日将停止对Windows 8的支持。Windows 8.1的主流支持截至2018年1月9日，扩展支持到2023年1月10日。
