在国内的在线广告收入上,淘宝一直是百度最有力的竞争对手。根据2012年1月发表的iResearch报告,在2012年,百度以223亿(35亿美元)广告收入位居在线广告商首位,而淘宝以172亿(27亿美元)位居第二。
据悉,百度从2010年就开始尝试网购搜索,但是结果并不显著。

A Tencent Tech report Wednesday said Baidu launched the shopping search platform under a second-level domain "gouwu.baidu.com". Pioneering partners for the platform include 360buy.com, Wal-Mart-backed Yihaodian, Amazon China, Suning.com, 51buy.com and Vancl.com, it stated.
However, online shopping sites by Alibaba, including Taobao and Tmall.com, were not included in the Web site.
Taobao has been a keen competitor with Baidu for China's online advertising revenue. According to a iResearch report published in January 2012, Baidu was the top online advertising player with 22.3 billion yuan (US$3.5 billion) in ad revenue in 2012, while Taobao came in second with 17.2 billion yuan (US$2.7 billion).
According to the report, Baidu had been experimenting with shopping search since 2010 but the results were not impressive.[/indent]
