AMD开源工程师Michel Dänzer近日表示，xf86-video-ati开源显卡驱动已经可以在Radeon HD 7000系列显卡上实现完整的2D加速了。
Radeon HD 7000系列已经发布了很久，但是开源支持一直不到位。AMD虽然很快就在今年三月提供了内核模式设定支持，但是功能特性确实严重，特别是3D进展缓慢。更要命的是，AMD这一代改为通过GLAMOR库来实现2D加速，因此如果想得到完整的2D加速，3D、OpenGL是必需的。
还有就是，Radeon HD 6000-7000的升级彻底改变了GPU硬件架构，驱动程序也必须随之变化，Gallium3D驱动就为此出了新版RadeonSI，并在上个月底做了不少修复。
圣诞节期间，Michel Dänzer并没有闲着，而是对xf86-video-ati GLAMOR做了进一步完善，包括删除大约2000行代码，总算是在Radeon HD 7000系列上做到了完整的2D加速。
不过如果需要电源管理、视频加速、OpenGL 3.x/4.x、OpenGL性能和其它一些特性，Radeon HD 7000 Linux用户仍然需要使用官方的催化剂驱动，开源驱动暂时还做不到。
