Job Description: VMware, a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers, is seeking a Senior QE Engineer with a proven track record for delivering high quality software products. As a member of the GOS Validation team, you will be responsible for validating the correct operation of over 400 Guest Operating Systems (GOS) on our award-winning virtualization products such as ESX and Workstation. You will have the opportunity to work with a broad set of functional areas, such as network, storage, and video and a large number of Operating Systems, such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, BSD, and Netware.

Responsibilities
Lead and influence quality assurance across all VMware engineering groups, from inception through release.
Work closely with Development and Product Management to ensure timely and quality product releases.
Participate in initiatives to support continuous improvement of process, quality metrics, communication, tool development, etc…
Write test plans and define test cases for one or more features for a given product release.
Design, implement and execute automated and manual tests.
Evaluate and communicate test results.
File and maintain bug reports.
Participate in review of feature specification and design.
Coordinate and collaborate with other QE teams, both local and off-shore.
Mentor other QE engineers

Requirements
BS or MS Computer Science, or equivalent.
6-10 years professional experience as a Software QE Engineer, working on a large software product requiring a high degree of collaboration and integration.
3-5 years experience developing test automation using Perl or Python.
Understanding of x86 OS/kernel internals and their interaction with hardware virtualization, including memory management, resource management, CPU scheduling and device drivers.
Understanding of the major components of standard PC architecture, such as processors, memory management, BIOS, and PCI.
Experience working with the open source community and familiarity with projects such as linux,org, X.org, and one or more Linux distributions.
Hands-on experience with a broad spectrum of operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, Netware, and BSD.
Prior experience with VMware virtualization products is highly desired.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Must be able to prioritize, track and complete multiple outstanding tasks
Must have excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Good understanding of QE concepts and Software Engineering process.
