Linux desktop panel icon but not the solution

Step 1: In Linux Desktop, press Ctrl+alt+f2
Step 2: Login then type the following command:
$cd
$rm -rf .gconf
$rm -rf .gconfd
$rm -rf .gnome
$rm -rf .gnome2
Step 3: Press Ctrl+alt+f7 to be back to x-windows, then restart the Linux
