Job Summary
The Red Hat Engineering team is seeking a software engineer to join us as a Ceph Core Storage Developer. In this role, you will support the object store that sits at the heart of the Ceph Storage Cluster. You'll optimize complex storage features like erasure coding, tiering, and caching. As a Ceph Core Storage Developer, you will also be responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and support interaction with a very active open source community evolving Agile methodology to deliver enterprise quality software in an open source project.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Use your development skills in C++ to develop the Ceph Monitor
Perform triage, analysis, repair, and testing for Ceph Monitor bugs
Actively participate in the Ceph community
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science, or demonstrated equivalent experience; master's degree in computer science or equivalent experience is preferred
8+ years of system software development experience
Solid C and C++ development and debugging skills
Good software development life cycle skills, as well as systems and network (e.g. socket) programming skills
Demonstrated understanding of Linux and UNIX internals
Experience with clustered computing or distributed file systems, as well as client or server computing
Experience dealing with scaling issues and distributed design
Experience with correct and efficient serialization of multi-threaded code
Experience with remote file access protocols (e.g. NFS, CIFS, or S3), Git, GitHub, and Jenkins
Good Python programming skills are a plus
Experience working with distributed teams, delivering enterprise quality software, and working on open source software projects
