june 3rd ’07: polo in june gloom
on a cold and nasty day in santa barbara the early game was not cold or nasty. it was a very physical fast game between long beach, a 3-pro team with a 3 goal amateur, vs. los toros/klentner ranch. it was a wild game and at the end of the 6th chukker, it was just like it started, without a winner. matt walker made some big plays in the 6th to tie it up so it was off to overtime. los toros/klentner had 3 big chances to close the door, but just like last time, they met in the finals. it was long beach taking advantage of a mistake and winning the game about 4 minutes into the 7th chukker. long beach head sto their 3rd finals. los toros/klentner has to beat nicoma to make it to the finals as nicoma pounded gehache in the main game with a wee bit of sunshine in the clouds.down south it was pretty lady lisa bosstick doing it to her opponents as she scored in the last 3 seconds. mrs. bosstick and ms. wilson led the palomino (jason crowder) into the finals and to a win. it is their second win in three weeks of a fun pro pool. its seems to be working as it has brought lots of new faces to the game the grass in san diego.over the pond it was mariano gonzalez winning 1 of 2 in the 22-goal. another win tuesday and he can make it to the semis in a 22-goal tournament with 22 teams participating. england has just 20 more teams than santa barbara in july and it rains there and it is cold too. maybe their emission is better? i see where california ranks nearly the bottom in terms of polo rank in the u.s. someday someone in california figure out our traffic solution by taking out 1 lane of freeway and turn it into a metro that transports a couple of hundred thousand people a day. it would take 50 thousand cars off the road. oh well, lets buy more suv’s. also drive in left lane as much as possible as its our way in the golden state.see ya at polo.
