Fedora 9 KDE 4.0 features reviewed
Red Hat Magazine has posted a detailed review of the KDE 4.0 implementation included in the Fedora 9 Linux distribution released earlier this week. It looks like a pretty major jump from KDE 3.0, albeit one that still falls short of complete perfection.
Some of the new features present in KDE 4.0, and discussed in the article, include:
A new "kickoff" (aka "start") menu
Fancy Compiz 3D window management with simplified settings
New Okular document view, Dolphin file manager, and Marble desktop globe
Solid, Phonon, and Akonadi application frameworks
More FreeDesktopOrg integration
Good PulseAudio integration
Akonadi storage service
Qt ("cute") 4.0 widgets and GUI framework underpinnings
